Our Focus Areas

Peacebuilding Initiatives

Fostering dialogue, mediation, and reconciliation to resolve conflicts and build trust among diverse communities.

Fostering Peace & Social Cohesion: Our Approach to Conflict Resolution
Introduction: In the midst of complex conflicts and social fragmentation in Sudan, One Community for Peace and Development believes that peace is not merely the absence of war—it is an active, community-led process. Our peacebuilding initiatives focus on addressing the root causes of conflict, mending the torn social fabric, and creating safe spaces for dialogue among diverse communities.
Our Core Objectives: We implement our peacebuilding strategy through three main pillars:
Community Dialogue & Mediation: We organize inclusive forums (such as the Justice Forum and Civilian Rights Forum) that bring together tribal leaders, youth, women, and civil society actors. These platforms allow for open discussions to resolve grievances peacefully and build mutual trust.
Capacity Building for Peace Agents: We train local volunteers and community leaders on conflict resolution, crisis management, and negotiation skills. By empowering individuals with these tools, we create a network of “Peace Agents” capable of de-escalating tensions in their own neighborhoods.
Advocacy for Civilian Protection: Through campaigns like “Our Rights Are Protected,” we advocate for the safety of civilians and the rejection of violence, emphasizing that protecting human dignity is the first step toward lasting peace.
Our Impact: Our goal is to transition communities from a state of fragility to one of resilience, where disputes are settled through dialogue, and diversity is seen as a strength rather than a source of division.

Health and Education

Improving access to quality education and essential healthcare services to ensure well-being for all.

Empowering Communities: Integrating Health & Education for a Better Future

Introduction: At One Community for Peace and Development, we recognize that health and education are the twin pillars of human dignity and sustainable recovery. In war-affected areas and displacement camps, access to basic medical care and learning opportunities is often severely disrupted. Our mission is to bridge this gap, providing essential services while empowering individuals with the knowledge to rebuild their lives.

Our Core Objectives: We deliver our impact through targeted interventions:

  • Emergency Healthcare Services: We work on the ground to provide urgent medical support to the most vulnerable. This includes establishing mobile clinics (such as our initiative at Musa Jaber Shelter Center), organizing medical days, and facilitating specialized health campaigns like the Circumcision Initiative for Refugee Children.
  • Health Awareness & Prevention: Beyond treatment, we focus on prevention. We conduct hygiene promotion campaigns and health education sessions to prevent disease outbreaks in crowded shelter centers, ensuring families have the knowledge to stay safe.
  • Education & Capacity Building: We believe education is a tool for resilience. We organize training workshops (like the Crisis Management Workshop) to equip youth and volunteers with practical skills. We also support educational initiatives that keep children in learning environments, protecting their future despite the conflict.

Our Impact: We strive to create a healthy community capable of learning and growing. By treating the sick and educating the mind, we are laying the foundation for a generation that can lead Sudan’s recovery.

Sustainable Development

Implementing sustainable initiatives to enhance economic opportunities and improve living standards in local communities.

Building Resilience: From Relief to Sustainable Livelihoods

Introduction: While emergency aid saves lives, sustainable development rebuilds them. At One Community for Peace and Development, our vision extends beyond the immediate crisis. We are dedicated to implementing initiatives that enhance economic opportunities and improve living standards, helping war-affected communities transition from dependency on aid to self-reliance and long-term stability.

Our Core Objectives: We focus on creating lasting change through:

  • Food Security & Livelihood Support: We combat hunger not just by providing emergency food baskets (as seen in our Port Sudan Food Security Campaign), but by working towards sustainable food solutions. Our goal is to ensure that the most vulnerable families have consistent access to nutritious food and the means to sustain themselves.
  • Economic Empowerment & Skills: We believe that human capital is Sudan’s greatest asset. We support vocational training and skills development programs that equip youth and women with the tools to generate income, start small businesses, and restore local economies shattered by the conflict.
  • Community Infrastructure & Rehabilitation: War destroys more than just homes; it destroys the infrastructure of daily life. We conduct field assessments (like our work in Kordofan and Darfur) to identify critical needs in shelters, schools, and water sources, advocating for and participating in their rehabilitation to create livable, dignified environments.

Our Impact: Our ultimate aim is to see communities standing on their own feet again—resilient, productive, and looking towards a future of growth rather than mere survival.

Empowering youth & women

Empowering women and youth to lead, participate in decision-making, and drive positive social change.

Agents of Change: Unleashing the Potential of Youth and Women

Introduction: At One Community for Peace and Development, we believe that sustainable peace cannot be achieved without the full and active participation of youth and women. They are not merely beneficiaries of aid; they are the architects of the future. Our programs are designed to transform these groups from vulnerable populations into powerful agents of social change and economic recovery.

Our Core Objectives: We empower these vital segments through a multi-faceted approach:

  • Women’s Leadership & Protection: We advocate for women’s rights and their safety. This includes combating gender-based violence (as highlighted in our 16 Days of Activism against Digital Violence campaign) and ensuring women have a seat at the table in peace negotiations and community decision-making processes.
  • Youth Engagement & Volunteerism: We channel the energy of youth into constructive action. Through initiatives like the “Volunteer Pulse” project, we train young people in crisis management, leadership, and civic engagement, turning them into proactive leaders who serve their communities during emergencies.
  • Economic Independence & Skills: We provide vocational training and capacity-building workshops designed to unlock economic opportunities. By equipping youth and women with marketable skills, we help them achieve financial independence and break the cycle of poverty and dependency.

Our Impact: Our vision is a Sudan where women are safe, respected leaders, and where youth are empowered with the skills and hope needed to rebuild their nation.

Human Rights Protection

Advocating for justice, equality, and the protection of fundamental rights and dignity for every individual.

Defending Dignity: Upholding Human Rights & Access to Justice

Introduction: In the face of conflict and displacement, protecting human rights is not an option—it is an imperative. At One Community for Peace and Development, we act as a guardian of human dignity. We are committed to monitoring violations, advocating for the vulnerable, and ensuring that the voice of justice remains loud even amidst the noise of war.

Our Core Objectives: We pursue justice and protection through three strategic avenues:

  • Advocacy & Legal Awareness: We launch powerful campaigns, such as “Our Rights Are Protected,” to educate communities about their legal rights. We organize high-level forums (like the Civilian Rights Forum) to discuss protection mechanisms and hold stakeholders accountable for the safety of civilians.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: We actively monitor the humanitarian situation and document challenges facing civilians in conflict zones (such as our advocacy work in Darfur and South Kordofan). We engage with international bodies, including the UN and IGAD, to demand safe humanitarian corridors and the cessation of hostilities against non-combatants.
  • Supporting Vulnerable Groups: Our protection mandate extends to the most marginalized. We provide targeted support to refugees and displaced persons, ensuring they have access to essential services and legal documentation, preserving their dignity in their time of greatest need.

Our Impact: We strive for a society where every individual, regardless of their circumstances, lives free from fear, with their fundamental rights respected and protected by the rule of law.

Support for Vulnerable Groups

Providing humanitarian aid and care to refugees, persons with disabilities, and marginalized families in need.

Leaving No One Behind: Compassionate Care for the Most Vulnerable

Introduction: War does not affect everyone equally; the burden falls heaviest on the shoulders of the most vulnerable—children, the elderly, refugees, and persons with disabilities. At One Community for Peace and Development, our humanitarian compass is directed towards those who have lost the most. We are dedicated to providing not just aid, but specialized care that respects their specific needs and preserves their dignity.

Our Core Objectives: We tailor our support to ensure inclusivity and protection:

  • Child Welfare & Protection: Children are the future, yet they are the primary victims of conflict. We implement dedicated health and social initiatives, such as the Circumcision Initiative for Refugee Children and recreational activities in camps, ensuring their physical well-being and psychological recovery.
  • Refugee & IDP Support: For families forced to flee their homes, we provide a lifeline. From food security campaigns (distributing baskets to hundreds of families) to essential shelter assessments, we work to ensure that displaced populations in centers like Musa Jaber and Korea South have access to basic necessities.
  • Inclusion of Marginalized Groups: We actively work to identify and assist those often invisible in general aid distribution, such as the elderly and those with chronic illnesses. Our mobile clinics and field teams prioritize these groups to ensure they receive the medical and social attention they require.

Our Impact: Our goal is to create a safety net where every vulnerable individual feels seen, cared for, and supported, restoring their hope in a better tomorrow.
