Digital Empowerment and Peacebuilding (Darfur)
One Community Organization Launches Integrated Educational and Digital Initiatives to Promote Peace in Darfur

West & East Darfur, Sudan – 2024
Through its field offices in the localities of Yassin and Sirba, the One Community Organization for Peace and Development launched a set of integrated initiatives to enhance education and community/digital peacebuilding across Darfur States.
1. Educational and Digital Empowerment
- Education: We facilitated the enrollment of several primary and middle school students in UNICEF’s Sudan Learning Platform, ensuring educational continuity despite challenges.
- Digital Peacebuilding: Virtual seminars addressing issues of peace and development were organized. We also launched a social media awareness campaign to promote the culture of peace and reject hate speech.
2. Women’s Protection and Empowerment
- Protection from GBV: An awareness session for women was conducted in Yassin locality (East Darfur), focusing on protection from gender-based violence.
- Combating Digital Hate: A virtual seminar was held on combating hate speech on social media platforms, reinforcing a safe digital environment.
This project highlights the organization’s commitment to addressing both basic needs (education) and the social roots of conflict (peace and GBV prevention).

Training Women and Youth in Volunteerism and Project Writing (East Darfur)
One Community Organization Holds Workshop to Enhance Volunteer Capacity in Yassin Locality

As part of its ongoing commitment to empowering local communities, One Community Organization organized a specialized training workshop through its office in Yassin locality, East Darfur State. The workshop aimed at empowering women and youth by enhancing their capabilities in volunteerism and development project writing.
Part One: The Basics of Volunteerism
The workshop began by introducing participants to the fundamentals of volunteer work and addressed the following topics:
- Definition of Volunteerism.
- Motivations for Volunteerism.
- Qualities of an Effective Volunteer.
Part Two: Project Writing Skills
The second part of the workshop focused on enhancing the project writing skills of women and youth, covering the following crucial points:
- Definition of a Project and Characteristics of a Successful Project.
- Reasons for Project Failure.
- Understanding Donor Language and Requirements.
- Reasons for Proposal Rejections.
This workshop contributed to building a generation of empowered youth and women capable of designing and securing support for their own initiatives, thereby fostering sustainability in peace and development efforts.
